  • VALLIS AREOCANTABROS artwork by Carlos Perceval - art listed for sale on Artplode

About Artist:

He was born in Alicante in 1997 and grew up in the mountains, in several of the family farms. When summer came and he didn't have to study, he would go to the mountains all day long with his brother Álvaro, returning home to eat or sleep. There he experienced a great connection with nature, seeing it as part of a whole that is always more than the sum of its parts. He also developed a great fondness for quieter activities, such as reading and calligraphy. He studied Geology at the University of Alicante and at the University of Granada, where he would reinforce that connection with nature, but in an intellectual way this time. He is specializing in Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing.

About Artwork:

My artistic reference, which has permeated me since I was a child, is the Levantine macro-schematic art. At that time, there were no artists, no jobs, no science, there was only the experience with the environment. Human beings used their environment at their convenience, however, they were not able to understand it intrinsically. Artistic manifestations are difficult to interpret because they are essence (fertility, life, death), their essence. In the same way, I want to manifest and transmit the lack of understanding of our environment, both external and internal, that characterizes our century. After hundreds of generations, and thousands of years of technological progress, we are still as helpless in the face of our reality. As human beings, our view of the world is biased to a small sliver of creative reality that we call vision. Through science and training we have managed to expand this vision little by little, but despite this breadth of vision, our feelings, victories and defeats are the same, because we are the same as those people who still painted their experiences in mountain shelters and caves, transcending the ephemeral life that implies our mortality and anonymity within the species, engraving on the walls, their essence lingers there. We, in the XXI century no longer paint in caves, we use as they did, the tools of our time to capture our essence and thus mock the volatility of our lives, since the content exposed is ours.
